Joyce Hoag of Livingston Manor is Inducted into Honor Society at Dominican College

2014 Mar 19

This Spring semester, Dominican College was proud to inaugurate a campus chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, the international honor society in Education.

In a formal ceremony, Joyce Hoag of Livingston Manor was inducted into the newly established chapter. Kappa Delta Pi was established to foster excellence in education and promote fellowship among those dedicated to teaching. The founders chose the name from the Greek words to represent knowledge, duty, and power. Pioneering from its beginning by including women as well as men, Kappa Delta Pi grew from a local chapter to the international organization it is today, comprising 600 chapters and more than 40,000 members. Albert Einstein, George Washington Carver, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Margaret Mead are just a few of the historically known members.

Kappa Delta Pi has, at its roots, a mission that is very similar to that of Dominican College, to sustain an honored community of diverse educators by promoting excellence and advancing scholarship, leadership, and service. Members are committed educators and leaders who recognize and honor achievement; strive to a high degree of professional fellowship, leadership, and growth in the field of education; and serve their students and the global educational community.
